SAN FRANCISCO, November 19, 2013 – To eliminate speech-language pathologist (SLP) travel time and keep Taylor County School District students with diverse speech needs in class, Taylor County School District implemented PresenceLearning, the leader in online speech therapy and other special education-related services for K-12 students. Approximately 50 students in grades K-12 from both public and private school are working with a highly qualified remote SLP during online speech therapy sessions.

Texas Schools See 1:1 Tablet Success after Two Months into the School Year

October 28th, 2013 - Texas - Nueces Canyon Consolidated Independent School District (NCCISD) and Midland Independent School District (MISD) successfully implemented 1:1 tablet initiatives using the LearnPad tablet solution. They chose the LearnPad after conducting extensive research for a tablet solution that met their localized needs. Each school district’s goal was to supply every student with a tablet and integrate it into their existing curriculum and technology. NCCISD has completed this goal, outfitting all 300 students in the district. MISD supplied their entire sixth grade of 1,600 students with LearnPads as part of a multi-year integration of 1:1.

SPARKscholar Advances Research at the State University of New York at Cortland

Inaugural recipient of the SPARKscholar Graduate Assistantship will receive research position and tuition reimbursement from SPARK

San Diego, CA, October 23, 2013 — Research shows that one in three children are obese, however, many schools do not provide the high-quality physical education needed to keep students active and healthy.  To continue research focused on childhood obesity prevention and physical activity, the State University of New York (SUNY) at Cortland implemented the SPARKscholar Graduate Assistantship program.  The first-ever SPARKscholar, graduate student Will Glennon, will work in the SUNY Cortland Activity and Movement Pedagogy (AMP) Lab to evaluate best practices in the areas of physical education, physical activity, and movement-based learning.  This scope of work will help improve both current and developing programming offered by, SPARK™, provider of the world’s most-researched physical education program.
