Vernier’s LabQuest 2 App Named Finalist in 2013 CODiE Awards

Real-time graphing and analysis app for STEM education recognized in Best Educational Use of a Mobile Device category

BEAVERTON, Oregon, May 1, 2013 – Vernier Software & Technology’s LabQuest 2 App was recently named a finalist in the 2013 Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) CODiE Awards. The app was recognized in the Best Educational Use of a Mobile Device category, which honors the best curriculum or administrative application that is delivered via mobile devices, including smartphones or tablets, for either Pre-12 or postsecondary markets.

The LabQuest 2 app provides students with real-time graphing and analysis capabilities when using Vernier’s powerful and versatile LabQuest 2 handheld data-collection device. The app features live sensor data display; linear and curve fits; built-in periodic table, stopwatch, scientific calculator; touch and stylus navigation for efficiency and precision; and more.

“The LabQuest and its built-in apps provide teachers with the tools to actively engage students in hands-on learning in both the classroom and in the field,” said David Vernier, co-founder of Vernier and a former physics teacher. “The recognition from the CODiE Awards is a great honor and further reinforces the power of our technology – and the benefits of using mobile devices – in STEM education.”

The SIIA CODiE Awards are the premier awards for the software and information industries and have been recognizing product excellence for 27 years. The awards have more than 75 categories and are organized by industry focus of Content, Education and Software.
