PublicSchoolWORKS Adds Access to Nine Crisis Preparedness Training Courses from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

Administrators can now access FEMA courses via the same system as their other required safety training

Cincinnati, OH (October 31, 2017) — To help staff and students get back to school following a natural disaster or other crisis, PublicSchoolWORKS added access to nine FEMA safety training courses within its Crisis Response Program and its online staff training course catalog. The courses, which are ideal for building and district-level administrators, were created by FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute (EMI). The EMI offers many courses to individuals free of charge as part of its Independent Study Program, and now PublicSchoolWORKS customers can access these courses in the same system as their required staff safety training courses.

“We hand-picked these nine FEMA courses because they directly address the skills we know administrators will need in the event of an emergency situation,” said Tom Strasburger, Vice President, Strategic Alliances, PublicSchoolWORKS. “We added them to our catalog to make it more convenient and easier to track completion for our customers.”

Like all PublicSchoolWORKS safety training courses, there is an assessment to ensure administrators can apply the safety concepts to real-life situations. Districts also get the added benefit of the system’s automation. Once assigned a course, the system automatically emails administrators to access and complete the training online at their convenience. The system sends reminder emails at specific intervals to those who have not yet completed their training and then emails a report listing these employees to key administrators. When the deadline has passed, the system automatically emails a central office administrator a district-wide report stating which employees did not complete the training by the deadline. This makes management of training and the central office’s ability to manage course completion much easier, while also giving the district a higher level of accountability.
