Teachscape appoints Andrew Morrison as Chief Executive Officer
Kathy Yates named Chairwoman of Teachscape Board of Directors and Chief Client Services Officer
SAN FRANCISCO, March 18, 2014 – Teachscape announced the appointment of Andrew Morrison as chief executive officer (CEO) and named former CEO Kathy Yates chairwoman of the board of directors and chief client services officer, in a move designed to increase the company’s emphasis on client service and satisfaction, build upon its existing product innovation, and to accelerate the organization’s growth.
Morrison, an accomplished CEO and technology leader, brings extensive experience in K-12 education businesses, technology, investment banking and law to this role. He served as founder and CEO of Cognitive Concepts, Inc., creator of the Earobics line of programs, and CEO of Smarterville, Inc., owner of Hooked on Phonics, Sunburst Education, and Reading Rainbow. In addition, Andrew also served as president of Class.com and Lincoln National Academy, and has served as an advisor to a number of other education companies and private equity firms. He excels in delivering effective, intuitive and scalable technology-based and blended-learning solutions to schools, educators and administrators; anticipating market trends and opportunities; and working closely with educators and thought leaders to create solutions that are well-aligned to the unique needs and expectations of schools.
“I am a firm believer in the work of Teachscape and its mission to help educators, and ultimately students, succeed,” said Morrison. “I look forward to working closely with Teachscape’s talented team and with school districts around the country.”
With Morrison as CEO, Yates will manage all facets of client support through the newly created position of chief client services officer. Yates will oversee implementation services, technical support, and professional services. This position was created to emphasize Teachscape’s commitment to effectively and sustainably support its clients in their ongoing work.
“I welcome Andrew’s partnership as we continue to build out Teachscape’s professional learning and educator evaluation solutions,” said Yates. “His addition to our team and my new focus on enhancing the overall client experience demonstrate our commitment to provide innovative technologies and comprehensive programs to improve teaching effectiveness and strengthen school leadership.”
Yates joined Teachscape as president and chief operating officer in 2010 before being named CEO later that year. Prior to Teachscape, Yates held a variety of executive leadership roles with both digital and print publishing enterprises, including President and CEO of Allbusiness.com, President and Chief Operating Officer of CBS Marketwatch, co-founder and CEO of Knight RIdder New Media, and General Manager of the San Jose Mercury News.
