The University of Mount Olive (UMO) Partners with iCEV for College Credit Initiative

High school students earn credits by completing the Ducks Unlimited Ecology Conservation & Management Certification through UMO and passing the exam hosted on the iCEV Testing Platform

Lubbock, TX – December 17, 2025 iCEV, a trailblazer in Career & Technical Education (CTE) solutions, is partnering with the University of Mount Olive (UMO) in North Carolina to offer a college credit opportunity for students interested in conservation. Starting in January 2026, high school students can earn three hours of college credit by taking the Ducks Unlimited Ecology Conservation and Management Certification course through UMO and passing the certification exam, which is hosted on the iCEV Testing Platform.

Students have the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit with a high school’s approval after successful completion of the eight-week virtual course and passage of the certification exam. Students can earn three college credit hours (ENR 240 at UMO), which may count toward general education, science, or elective requirements and can potentially be transferred to other institutions nationwide. Because the course is virtual, students can complete coursework on their own schedule, accommodating both individual learners and full classes.

“This partnership provides students with the option to receive both high school and college credit for earning a valuable industry certification, and it underlines the rigor and value of the Ducks Unlimited Ecology Conservation & Management Certification,” said Dusty Moore, CEO of iCEV. “For students who are considering careers in this area, earning a certification while in high school and earning college credit for that work can provide a leg up in career preparation.”

The eight-week course uses Ducks Unlimited Ecology Conservation & Management Certification prep curriculum offered on the iCEV platform, designed to help students master industry standards and develop their skills in ecology and conservation management. This comprehensive curriculum includes detailed lesson plans, videos, slide presentations and practice exams. The certification exam consists of 100 questions assessing industry-valued and industry-recognized standards produced by Ducks Unlimited, the world's leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation. It verifies individuals have obtained exceptional knowledge and skills in the areas of ecological principles and wildlife management, as well as habitat, forest, grasslands, wetlands and waterfowl conservation and management.

As a result of the greater value society places on natural resources and the environment, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 3,000 job openings each year in these fields.
