Webinar Gives Special Education Directors Strategies to Successfully Manage Speech-Language Pathology Workloads

PresenceLearning's March 28th webinar aims to ease caseloads and limit attrition for district SLPs

SAN FRANCISCO, March 7, 2013 – To help district-level special education directors successfully implement American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (ASHA) strategies to manage speech-language pathology services, PresenceLearning, the leader in online speech therapy services for K-12 students, is hosting a free webinar on Thursday, March 28th at 1 pm ET (10 am PT). To register for the webinar “Leadership Challenge: Managing Workloads in a Caseload-Driven World – Breaking the Barriers to Effective SLP Services,” visit http://pages.presencelearning.com/spedahead10.

During the one-hour webinar, leading SPED directors and speech-language pathologists (SLPs), Judy Rudebusch, EdD, CCC-SLP and Dr. Barbara Moore, EdD, CCC-SLP, will provide their perspectives and advice on the keys to successfully managing workloads and overcoming the barriers that prevent broad-scale adoption of the workload approach. During the presentation, they will also discuss the role of district leaders in change management and in shifting toward a quality of service approach.

By attending the webinar, participants will:

●Understand the challenges of delivering SLP services using a workload approach

●Demonstrate leadership strategies based on real-world examples of flexible scheduling

●Identify legal and compliance challenges related to quality of service

This webinar is the tenth in a series of free webinars sponsored by PresenceLearning. The webinar series, “SPED Ahead: New Realities, New Choices – A Forum for School Leaders,” brings together thought leaders who are re-thinking the way special education services, especially speech-language pathology and other related services, are delivered.

Since 2009, PresenceLearning’s innovative online speech therapy has provided schools with web-based access to a nationwide network of highly qualified, fully licensed speech-language pathologists who are available whenever and wherever they are needed. By partnering with PresenceLearning, school districts can fill staffing gaps related to acute and chronic SLP and occupational therapist (OT) shortages, reduce high caseloads for onsite personnel, improve student outcomes and save money. PresenceLearning also offers access to technical specialists, as well as culturally and linguistically diverse speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists.

During the 2012-13 school year, PresenceLearning will conduct more than 120,000 live online therapy sessions in public, charter and virtual school districts of all sizes nationwide.
