Pomerado Elementary will receive $3,000 to implement new initiatives plus access to Education Elements’ Personalized Learning Toolkit of resources

SAN CARLOS, CALIF. (Oct. 15, 2019) – Education Elements has selected Laura Crow, Principal at Pomerado Elementary in California’s Poway Unified School District, as the recipient of its 2019 Grant for Personalized Learning Schools. The grant will support the school’s personalized learning initiative which includes training staff and redesigning its learning spaces.

“Pomerado Elementary is very excited about the amazing opportunities the Education Elements grant will bring to our students and staff,” said Crow. “We know this grant will provide strategic resources for creating personalized learning environments for each student (that) will allow students to recognize and use strengths, take responsibility for their own learning, and become confident in their learning abilities and future possibilities.”

The Education Elements Grant for Personalized Learning Schools provides $3,000 for use toward classroom redesign or programs that will directly benefit student learning and outcomes, access to Education Elements’ Personalized Learning Toolkit and six hours of virtual support with an Education Elements consultant. The Personalized Learning Toolkit provides school leaders with resources to plan, design, and launch a personalized learning initiative using Education Elements’ proven four-step methodology for change.

Pomerado Elementary will use the Personalized Learning Toolkit to provide staff with a central place where they can access resources about their personalized learning efforts.  Education Elements will also support the school in “building a common culture, language and understanding of learner-centered work,” Crow said. She added that the grant money will help the school create learning spaces that incorporate flexible seating and other features to promote personalized learning.

“Personalized learning can be transformative for schools, and we received many great nominations from schools who recognize the importance of this work,” said Anthony Kim, CEO of Education Elements “We were particularly impressed by the application from the team at Pomerado Elementary, and are looking forward to working with Principal Crow to support their initiative and help her drive positive change for teachers, staff and students.”
