School Districts Find Ways to Increase Teacher Effectiveness and Collaboration

A report from Education Elements takes a closer look at successful school improvement initiatives

SAN CARLOS, CALIF. (Sept. 24, 2019) – Education Elements today released its 2018-19 annual report Building Responsive Systems to Transform Education which highlights transformation results from school districts across the country. To date, the education consultancy has reached 780,000 students, 950 schools and 200 districts and has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from its partner districts.  “The goal of this report is to highlight the great work of our partner districts, and to share how this work is successful and evolving,” said Anthony Kim, CEO of Education Elements. “We are proud to partner with so many districts who are becoming increasingly responsive to their students, staff, and communities so that they can better serve the needs of each child.” 

According to a survey of its partner districts:

  • 94 percent said they now see their teachers innovate more often
  • 91 percent said their teachers are now providing students with more opportunities to reflect on and shape their learning journey
  • 87 percent said they now have more effective team meetings and collaboration
  • 85 percent think Education Elements’ work has had a positive impact on teaching and learning

Moreover:

  • In the last two years, Yuma School District One (Arizona) has seen a 36 percent increase in teachers feeling more effective and a 20 percent increase in teachers feeling more comfortable innovating and taking risks.
  • 62 percent of Lakota Local School District (Ohio) leaders report increased effective collaboration among their teachers

The districts highlighted are: the Memphis Street Academy in Philadelphia, Wake County Public Schools in North Carolina, Yuma School District One in Arizona, Dallas Independent School District in Texas, Lakota Local School District in Ohio, Allegheny Intermediate Unit in Pennsylvania, South Brunswick School District in New Jersey and Lewiston-Porter Central School District in New York.

“The big piece for us in working with Education Elements is they are helping us with a national lens,” said Scott Feder, Superintendent of the South Brunswick School District, which partnered with Education Elements for support with strategic planning. “It’s very easy to do the work when you’re looking at your own work. But we need someone else to look at what’s going on in the world and country, and find best practices.”
