Impero Software Wins Gold Telly Award for “Chloe’s Story” Video
Powerful video shows the dangers of sexting and online bullying
Austin, TX, June 6, 2019 – Impero Software, a specialist provider of remote monitoring and management software for education, has been named a Gold Winner in the 40th Annual Telly Awards for its “Chloe’s Story” video highlighting the dangers of sexting and bullying – and how schools can prevent harmful situations from escalating.
The video won the highest honor in the Branded Content – Education category. To view the video, visit: https://www.tellyawards.com/winners/2019/branded-content/general-education.
The Telly Awards honors excellence in video and television across all screens and is judged by leaders from video platforms, television, streaming networks, and production companies including Vice, Vimeo, Hearst Digital Media, BuzzFeed and A&E Networks.
”Impero Software is pushing the boundaries for video and television innovation and creativity at a time when the industry is rapidly changing,” said Sabrina Dridje, Managing Director of the Telly Awards. “This award is a tribute to the talent and vision of its creators and a celebration of the diversity of work being made today for all screens.”
Impero Software created the “Chloe’s Story” video to bring attention to the online dangers of sexting and bullying and the important role online monitoring software plays in keeping students safe.
The video tells the story of “Chloe,” a (fictitious) teenage girl who sends explicit images to another student with his promise that he won’t share them with anyone else. But he does. The video is framed as if the viewer is looking at Chloe’s mobile phone. The story is told via the texts and photos that appear on the phones of Chloe and her classmates – and later on her instructor’s computer. It depicts the relentless cyberbullying that ensues and implies that Chloe commits suicide. Then it backtracks and shows how different that scenario could have been if Chloe’s school had used online monitoring software to alert her teachers of the cyberbullying.
“The scenario highlighted in “Chloe’s Story” is playing out in real life in schools around the world and too often it ends in tragedy,” said Richard Fuller, CEO of Impero Software. “We created this video to raise awareness of how dangerous online sexting and cyberbullying can be, how quickly things can spin out of control, and what schools can do to prevent these situations before they escalate. We are honored to be selected a Telly Awards Gold Winner and hope this recognition will help to bring even more attention to this important issue.”
Impero partners with schools to provide online monitoring software that can alert instructors or administrators if it detects students typing or searching for certain keywords related to sexting, cyberbullying, radicalization, self-harm and more. The software is part of its flagship product, Impero Education Pro, which also offers classroom management and network administration tools for schools. Impero Software also recently announced the launch of EdAware, a next-generation digital student safety solution that records, analyzes and stores multiple types of student safety information, from depressive episodes to risky online behavior, to help identify potential safety risks.
